Program: Sharon K. Shafer – “Circle of Animal: Standing Witness for the Sentient Wild”

In this photographic exploration of the artificial breach between humans and the natural world, Schafer argues that her black and white prints are messages from the edge. These photos are warnings of our growing estrangement with the natural world and the desperate need to recognize and accept our place in nature. These photographs are a reminder that humanities’ deepest fear is not that we are separate from nature but rather that we a part of it.
